Candy Crush Developer Working on a Call of Duty Game?

Seemingly impossible has happened! Candy Crush developer King, is working on a new Call of Duty game.

Yes you’ve heard it right, Stockholm-based King, who is behind Candy Crush Saga and Bubble Witch Saga works on CoD. According to his job listing on the company’s website, this developer is working on Activision’s CoD franchise.

The game of course is being built for smartphones and other mobile devices. According to our sources this Call of Duty team is a newly formed one. And it aims to transform the already known and loved franchise from a console to a mobile game.

Our approach and ambition is to be fresh, social, and highly accessible, while providing a very authentic gaming experience.‘ the developers said.
There are very few definite details about this project, since the project itself is in the prototype phase. King said that more details will come as the project reaches it’s alpha stage. Meanwhile they are hiring some positions such as art directors, level designers etc.

Aside from these positions King is in dire need of a senior systems designer and senior UX/UI designer. While this might be a bold feat for this fairly new developers, our hopes are high for their project.

We won’t lie, the idea of having a Call of Duty game on out smartphones excites us! We always liked the franchise and we can’t wait to see what King has in store for us.

While this all might sound fun, there is one question you are probably asking yourself right now. How the hell did this developer get to work on a Call of Duty game? Where are the connections? What has happened?!

So let’s get into some further analyzing of the project!

How it All Happened – From Candy Crush to Call of Duty

Activision Blizzard purchased King Digital Entertainment for 5.9$ billion dollar deal back in 2015. This was done to combine two of the most powerful mobile gaming communities. Helping both developers to create potential opportuinities, grow and cross-promote content to different audiences.

At the same time this provides players with more opportunities to engage with the content of these two developers. Each have their own unique style and audience, and when you think about it it’s a smart move. Combining two different types into one to appeal to a larger crowd always leads to profit.

This isn’t a first Call of Duty franchise to be released on mobile devices however. There have been a handful of mobile CoD games released over the psat few years. Some of them are: Call of Duty: Strike Team, Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies and Call of Duty: Heroes.

However this project specifically is supposed to be returning the CoD franchise to a World War II setting. We all know and love the old CoD’s where you fight the Nazi Germans and liberate Europe. Most of us began our CoD journey there and we cannot wait for this game to come out!
